PRINCE OF WALES

VISIT TO NORTH BORNEO. (By Cable —Press Association —Copyright.) (Eeutcr's Tulegrams.) LABAUN, May 18. The Prince of Wales had rather a wonderful experience of the wild men of Borneo during his visit to Jesse •- ton. Members of the native race weie brought together from the jungle dittricts, forming a considerable gathering. A feature was scurry racing, the principle of which apparently was "First homo gets the prize, and no questions asked." The winner was requested to pose for his portrait, but was deeply offended, asking in Malay: "Am I a woman, that lam mocked?" At the Residency the Prince saw an exhibition of blowpipe shooting by Dyaks. The proclivity of these folk for poispned darts is so notorious that, as a precautionary measure, every competitor had to consent to have his arm scratched with his own darts before he was admitted to the grounds.
