Court gave a majority verdict for Wiilia in the matter of costs in tlhe ons'j against "The Argus.' [Willis, secretary of the Australian Coal ancl Shale Owners' Federation, claimed £SOOO damages for alleged libel from "The Argus." The jury returned a verdict for "The Argus" on three counts, and a verdict on one count for Willis, with one farthing damages. The Judge awarded costs to each -side on the counts on which they succeeded.]

BROKEN" HILL BELIEF. (Received May 11th, 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 11. The Attorney-General states in reference to the cessation of general unemployment relief at Broken~Hill, that under the late Administration relief had been distributed to men actually in employment at Broken Hill, and others who were not even resident in the State.

UNEMPLOYED EX-SOLDIERS. (Received May 11th, 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 11. A meeting of tho Mayors of the various municipalities in the (Metropolitan area decided to approach the Government for permission to raise a 4$ per cent, loan in order to find employment for returned soldiers.

NEW SOUTH WALES STATE BAKERIES.

! (Received May 11th. 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY. May'll. Sir Thomas Henley, Minister for Publio Works, has announced that after the end of May the State bakeries will cease to supply bread to the public, but will continue to supply publio institutions pending further consideration of the whole question.
