THE STUDENTS' CARNIVAL.

TO-DAY'S EVENTS,

All roads will lead to the centre of the city this morning, when the j annual Carnival of Canterbury Collego will be held. The procession, on which the undergraduates ihavo spent a, good deal of time, bids fair to outstrip previous efforts. Tho committee in charge of the arrangements is as follows: Messrs C. I\ Chamberlain, M. J. liurns, J. B. Jackson, J. E. Howard, G. T. Cuthbert, and E. D. It. Smith (hon. secretary). Prominent roles in the procession and wedding ceremony aro taken by Messrs Gourley, Skoglund, Uourlay, Jackson, Hiiird, Cooper, Slirimpton, Howard-, lieeby, Chamberlain, Berry' Sasby, Black, Brady, Mackersey, Batehelor, Brassington. Laurenson, Russell, Smith, Burns, Half, Diury, and Petro. Complete arrangements have been made to ensure tho carrying out of the ceru,mony with due solemnity. The procession will, on its way to town from Canterbury College, halt for a moment at tlie City Council Chambers, whero the Mayor of the city. Dr. Thnckcr, will present the "Itoynl bride" will, a be liquet. For the regulation of the traffic at the corner of Worcester street and Oxford terrace, where the procession will turn, the Mayor lias directed that a large painted drain-pipe be placed at the street intersection. In this drain-nipo will be stationed si police constable, not of tho genuine force, and this officer will, -while the procession is in progress, assume the duties of traffic control at that point. The bund held u full rehearsal last evening, and it threatens to excel in volume any previous efforts in this direction. Groups of students were busy.till a late hour last night decorating tho vehicles which will assist in tho procession, and from the early hours of this morning tho vicinity of the College will he a hive of industry. In the afternoon tllere will he the usual journey into the city in gown for afternoon tea. This evening tho Diploma Ball will be hold in the Art Gallery.
