A ttrong appeal, was made for the preservation of the . remaining bush along the Wanganui river by Mr Gregor .McGregor at a meeting of tne Domain Board last week (reports the "Herald"). He said that from time to time the most beautiful portions of the bush were cut down, and these gaps made what might justly be called eyesores. Th© land in many cases wa*> of little or no value from a grazing po>nt of view, and the bush was wantonly destroyed. If it were preserved it would not only beautify the banks but would afforc( shelter to stock. He considered the board should have power to reserve all bush on the banks; not only in reserves but on native land as wf Jl, and that drastic action should be taken, if-necessary, to preserve the scenery.
