SALUTING THE FLAG.

CEREMONY IN NEW SOUTH WALES SCHOOLS.

(By Cabie—Preas Association—Coppig&t.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, May 10. The Hon. A. Bruutnell (Minister of Education) has ordered that all public school children shall be lifted up every ■Monday round the Union Jack to recite: "I honour njy God, I serve my King, I salute the flag," the ceremony to conolude with the singing of one verse of the National Anthem. . Mr Bruntnell explains that his reason for issuing the order is that there is a good deal being done in other directions to poison the minds of children against God, the King and the Empire, and ho considers it imperative that he should, so far as the State schools are concerned, • counteract this pernicious influence by instilling into the minds of the children this duty.
