It was decided to furnish a return ,of motor-cara and motor-lorries using the roads in th© county to the Progress League. The clorks o; the Weatland and Akaroa County Councils asked for copies of the motor-lorry traffic by-laws, and it was decided to forward same when printed. The Department of Commerce and Industries asked for consideration of ITew Zealand products when making arrangements for supplies. Tho clerk stated that wherever possible New Zealand products were obtained. Mr F. Williams 6tated that th© broom on hia section would be attended to, and it was decided to order broom to bo removed from roads in tho county. Messrs B. and W. Fleming asked permission to lay a pip© line under the Sherwood Toad. They wore piven permission, subject to th© usual conditions. Th© Chief Surveyor forwarded tracing of roads crossing the Council boundary into Cheviot County, and it was decided to hold in abeyance consideration of the alteration of tho Cheviot boundary. The chairman proposed, and Cr. Atkinson seconded, and it was carried, that the clerk bo directed to take steps to wind up the Waiau Township Eiver District, and to spend the money in hand to tho best advantage. The chairman gave notice that he would move at the next meeting of the Council that a. rate, of three-farthings in tho pound bo struck in all the ridings. It was decided to call a meeting of ratepayers in the Waiau Plains Water-race District in Eothorham on April 09th. The Minister of Internal Affairs forwarded a, copy of tho Local Bodies' Finance Act, 1921, which makes provisiqn for and limits borrowing by local bodies 1 for revenue purposes. The bank balances were reported to be: County Fund Account, dr. £S22 14s 6d ; Waterrtice Maintenance, dr. £149 12s £d; "Waiau Township Account, cr. £l6 IDs Id; and Thirds Account, cr. £26 15s lid.
