FIRE BRIGADES'

DEMONSTRATION. MONDAY'S F3XTUBE. Interest is increasing daily in the Canterbury Fire Brigades' Demonstration, which is one of the most important fixtures for Ea,ster Monday. Complete arrangements iave been made for the competitions, which 'will ba decided, on the Canterbury A. and P. Asaociation's Show Grounds Addingtoi.and as teams from practically all the Canterbury brigades havo been in training for some time different events, keen and well-con-tested struggle for supremacy are assured. The teams which will compete aK:-Atoroa, Aehburton, Addington Kailway (2) Chiw - church City (2), Christchurch Railway 2 , Lyttelton (2), New Brighton (2), Sumner (3), and Temuka. Eor the schoolboys coupling event eleven have entered from the city and au'ourban primary and secondary schools; this event is sure to be one of the hotteat contested. With other spectacular events, such as the rescue event, and the five men reel event, it will be decided hi the afternoon. The day's spoTt is to start, at 8 a.m. with thi» Gilberd Memorial (one man coupling event), to be followed % the Association event (three .men, hose, hydrant), and the five men hoso., hydrant and union event. Admission to this Show Grounds will be free; a charge of 6d will be made for the grandstand, and those wishing to make voluntary contributions to the fundis of the committee will bo given an opportunity to do so. Luncheon and afternoon tea will be obtainable on tha grounds.
