AUTOMATIC GUNS.
SPORTSMEN PBOTEST AGAINST EMBARGO. (PRESS association telegram.) INVERCARGILL, April 12. Considerable indignation has been caused among Southland sportsmon at the recent prohibition of tho use of automatic guns tor the present 6hooting season, and at a meeting of Invercargill and district sportsmen held to-day, it was unanimously decided to enter an emphatic protest against the embargo on automatic and autoloaded guns; copies of the resolution to be forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Prime Minister, and Southland members of tho Legislature. At a meeting of the Southland Acclimatisation Society held to-night, it was IJl'cided to support tho petition from sportsmen to tho Minister, with a suggestion that the Order-in-Oouncil should be suspended for & year.
