MINERS' MEDICAL ASSOCIATIONS
(special to "the pmss.") GKEYMOUTH, April 11. An investigation 'committee consisting of Mr A. H. Kimbell, Under-Secre tary for' Mines (chairman), the Hon." W. H. Mclntyre, M.L.C, and Mr J. A. C. Bayne, manager or the Paparoa mine, has, within the last few days, visited Millerton, Ngakawau, Dennioton, Reefton, Blackball, and Branner, and closely investigated the books of the several miners' medical associations, and also ascertained the procedure followed by the executive committee in administering the funds, the whole of the money for which is found by the coal owners, -who are by law required to pay a contribution of £d a ton on all coal sold. Throughout the investigations the members of the several associations have rendered every assistance to ths committee and various suggestions were made in the direction of increasing the l>enefits payable, which, when tht, committee completes its enquiries in other parts of the Dominion, will he incorporaited in a report to be made to the Minister of Mines.
