CANTERBURY FIRE BRIGADES' DEMONSTRATION.
The general committee of the Canterbury Provincial Fire Brigades' Demonstration met last night, Mr R. B. Hean presiding over a large attendance. The Town Clerk (Mr H. R. Smith) wrote stating that the Mayor accepted the, committee's invitation to attend the smoking concert on Easer Monday night. On behalf of this Waterworks Committee of the City Council, the Town Clerk wrote stating that the Demonstration Committee's request for a remission ■of the charges would 'be made in'' the uvent of an extraordinary supply of water txsing used. Mr C. J. Treleaven wrote regretting that a previoua engagement prevented him acting as . startbt at the demonstration. The chairman announced, in connexion with tho Church parade on Easter Sunday, which is to muster at the city headquarters station at 10.15 a.m., that all ex-firemen were invited %o attend. Superintendent Warner stated that Derry's Band would play the parade from the station to St. Michael's Church. The -report of the Finance Committee was submitted by Superintendent Warner. It showed that the receipts totalled' between £l7O ami £IBO. The following order of events for the morning wasi' agreed 'upon:— Ist, Gilberd_ Memorial, one man coupling; 2nd, Association event, lioae, fiydrant, 3 men; 3rd, hose, hydrant, and union, 5 men. The afternoon events were fixed in the following order:— 4th,- hose, hydrant, qnd union, three men; 6th, schoolboys' coupling events; 6th, five men reel; 7th, rescue event; and Bth, consolation event, three men, hose, hydrant, and union. ■•■ ..-.--. •, ■. .■*•. ",■ The Christchurch Fire Board at its meetin? last night accepted the Demonstration Committee's invitation to attend the church parade <ra Sunday, the motor run to Sumner, the demonstration, and smoking concert on Easter; Monday. The 1 Brigade's Recreation Committee's cup (to'be.competed for at the demonstration) and the champion shield were on view at the end of the meeting.
