The North Canterbury Gtin Club opened their season on Saturday Afternoon! ideal .weathor prevailing. Mr J. Skihing, president, extended a welcome to the visitors present, and hoped they would have a pleasant day. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Skilling. Three clay-bird matches were fired. : The first was a ten-bird match for a trophy presented by llr J. J. Mutthews and in optional sweep. Thore were twelve entries. J. Simpson (17yds),, J. TH» special prize for the best unplaced performarce iiisido the 13yd mark was won by J. Horrell with nino birds off 11yds, The second , event was a ten-bird (weep, which drew twelve entries, E. Hammotta (16yda) and C. Voice (Myds) tied with ten birds each, and divided first and second money. L. Moffatt (15yds), J. Simpsoa (lttyus), W. Reid (17yds), and J. Horrell (I lyds) j shot nine birds each, end! divided third i money. The special priio was won by 0. Nelmea with eight birds off llyda. Thp third elioot. was also tt ten-bird sweep, for which, there were thirteen entries. F, Truscott (16yds), E. Hammond (17yds), and, W. Reid (17yds) shot ill their birds, and' 1 divided the money.
