CAMBRIAN SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETINO. Tho Cambrian Society of Canterbury held their annual general meeting on. Saturday ovening, when the balance-sheet was adopted. The following officers were elected for the year:—President, Mr A. Johns (proposed by Mr Bowden, and seconded by Mr J. Evans); MVa Hnmber, Mr Walters, Mr D. James: committee, Mrß Hugh Williams, Madame Gower Burns,-Mr Owen Jones, Mrs Bowden. Mr Jenkins. Mr T. Rogers, Mr Evans, Mr E. White Edwards: secretary, Mr J. M. Davies; treasurer, Mr Hugh Williams; auditors, Mr J. O. Parry (re-ciccted) and Mr J. Evans. . • ' Mr Bowden, tho retiring president,. thanked the members and committee for the support they had given him during his term of office, and also the secretary, Mies Freebury, for the preat assistance she ha*i been to him, and the time and energy she had devoted to the Society. A number of members spoke eulogistically of tho executive, complimenting them on the big advancement that had been made by the Society during the past two years. Mr Bowden returned thanks, and wished the Society every success during the coming year. Mrs Hamber propoarf a vot© of thanks to Mr J. C. Parry for his great perseverance and patience in conducting the singinjc practices for the Cathedral service. It was mainly, due to his musical abilities and per* severance that the singing at those aervjees was so successful. Tho motion by Mr Johns, and the secretary was asked to communicate with Mr Parry and express the gratitude pf the Society. Mrs Wod'Ja propopcd a .vote of thanks.to 'Hvg Bowden, tho retiring presidentV wife, for the interest she had shown, aiid- tho work she had done, and the manner in which lie motion was curried went to show the esteem in which both Mr and Mia Bowdea were held by the members. The president then declared the meeting dosed, the members rising to eing "Hen wlad fy nhadau.*'
