The Swedish Lloyd steamer Thule, from London, with 27 passengers, and four other steamers are wedged in the ice and their screws are jammed. Off Vinga Lightlxousa the jjcsit.ion is dangerous to navigation, ana the Sound is impassable. Thus the Baltic has been converted into an isolated bay. The ports of East Sweden are inaccessible, except Stockholm and Narrkoeping, where icebreakers are cutting a passage. ' A later message from Stockholm states that an ice-breaker has released tl» steamer Thule and the four other steamers wedged in the Baltic Sea. A passago to Gothenburg has been cut and the Government is employing aeroplanes to reconnoitre the icefield.
