SUMNER BOROUGH SPORTS.

The Sumner Borough Sports, which were held over-on account of. the bad weather fit the recent picnic at Motukarara, were held at St. Leonard's square 011 Saturday afternoon. The members of the Borough Committee laid out a running coupe, and provided a certain amount of seating accommodation. There was a good attendance of residents, both , young .and old, and _the weather conditions were perfect. The cmet attraction of the day was the family contest, a prize of £3 3s being set apart for the mother <3f the family winning tho most pOmta during the afternoon. Th® event w aß won by Mrs,, C. Lawson, with a total of 17 points, her twins, five years of age, both scoring wins. The runner-up. Mrs J. Merritt, was only one point behind, her two boys 6coring well. Mr G. A. Alexander, chairman of the Sports Committee, thanked the members for their efforts in. collecting .tl»e funds, and the residents for their hearty support.'
