The visit of the Prince of "Wales to Rawalpindi, - the headquarters of the Northern Army, was ilie last important function of his four months' tour in India. He arrived there after spending the greater part of the day at Taxila, an early Buddhist settlement. Tomorrow he will present a Victoria Cross to a Silkh private for bravery in Waziristan
The Prince leaves Rawalpindi on Saturday, stops «n Sunday at Kapurthala, spends three "ours on Monday at Dehra Dun and then goes to Gajraula. Arriving at Karachi on the 17th, he will embark in H.M.S Renown for Ceylon, arriving at Colombo on the 21st. He had an unusually interesting time at Malakand vesterday. A 24 hours' truce ivas declared in honour of his visit l>v the warring tribes of Dir and Swat, the tribesmen of both sides coming in to see him, and the Dir tribesmen having to pass through Swat territory. The climbed to the top of the last Brit?*;! outpnpt 'jve'-lookir.g independent tribal territory ;>nd saw the rival towers in Swat anil Dir, which are the centre of the present local war. The truce expired sifter the denartvre of tho Prince, leaving the representatives of Dir confronted with . the difficult 1 problem of return'-isr to their fort safely through their enemies' coui^ry.
