MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the LyHelton Harbour Board ™ held yesterday. Present —Mr J. Storry (chairman), the Hon. R. Moore, M.Ii.C., Dr. Thaeker, M.P.', Messrs H. T. Armstrong, H. Munio, H. Holland, R. Macartney, W. ff. Walter, F. Horrell, P. G. Norton, W. K. McAlpine, T. A. Bl&ckley, and .R. Galbraith. ' A letter was received from the Chrißtohurch. City Council in, connexion with, plague precaution. „ . Mr Holland moved:—"That the Board agrees to co-operate with tho City Council and other local bodies in using every possible endeavour to -prevent the _ spread of plague." "With reference to a request by tho owners of the Broxton for a reduction in dues, it was decided that the Board'e by-laws allowed of no action being taken. • _ The treasurer's report stated that since the last meeting, and up to the 28th ultimo, the following ordinary receipts had been paid into the harbour fund account;— Wharfage, *2621 13s ltid; pilotage £1238 10s 6d; port chaTges, £9BB 18s sd; berthage, £845 9s 7d; .towage, warps, fenders, and electric light, £326 13s 9d; dock and' slip, £92 8s; storage and cold storage, £3Bl 0s ; harbour improvement rate, £1756 8s; rents, £129 10s lOd; sundry receipts, £45 17s; total £8426 16s Bd, as compared with £9958 18s for the- corresponding period of last year. The bank book showed the harbour fund to bo in debit £16,675 12s 7d. During February 117 vessels, with a total net tonnage of 144,588, entered the port of as against 101 vessels aggregating 123,992 tonsduring the corresponding month of 1921. _ It warf decided that applications be invited for, the position of second pilot as soon e-s the secretary considers that such an ap- ! pointment is necessary. . I Th<e secretary was given authority to call for tenders for supplies of coal. A donation of £lO was voted to the St. John Ambulance Association. The matter of representation on the Board was held over till the next meeting.
