ELECTRIC POWER BOARD.

SPBINGS-ELLESMERE. The monthly meeting of the Springs-EHes-mere Electric Power Board was attended by Messrs J. Cunningham (chairman), J. W. Kime, J. S. Simpson, E. T. McMillan, S. Neave, and J. C. Free. The engineer (Mr J. R. Templin) and secretary (Mr F. S. Jarman) were also in attendance. The chairman welcomed Mr Kime back afl a member of the Board, and remarked upon the good work he had done in tie early etaees of the electrical achemo. Ai reply roceived was that the Publio Trustee regretted that the office was unable to con-i aider any application for a fresh loan the Board. Members would have noticed that the Power Boards Act had been I amended as desired by the Board. This would enable them to proceed with reticulation work in the un-reticulated portion of the area 'icenaed to the Tai Tapu Dairy Co. Housewiring committees had been set up at Leeston and Southbridge. Seventy-six permits had been issued .to. Mr Francis Clark ior | houses-wiring in Springs County. It was agreed. that the engineer should ] prepare a plan showing the lay-out oT the lines he proposed to erect in the area about Greenpark and Lincoln licensed to file Tai Tapu Dairy Co., and that the secretary forward a copy to the Dairy Co., as a matter of cour- ■ British General Electric Co. notified the Board of the landing of a megger, costing'£46, to the Board order. . It was decided to procure 200 poles at ai cost .of 28s landed at Lyttelton, for service lines. He would try to give a definite date when he had further information about transformers and other materials on order. ' _ . The engineer stated that it . was the practice in other districts to ask the consumers for the pole where it was necessary, and he had followed that rule in the Springs-Elles-mere distriot. It would involve a substantial sum if the Bpard' had to pay the' cost. After some discussion, it was decided to continue the practice followed in those part® ■of the district-already reticulated.'
