BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. The Council of the United Burgesses' Association was held on Tuesday night. The following delegates were present:—Messrs A. H. Bla.uk Beach), chairman, . 11. Clark, A. H. E. E. Patten (Avonside), W. J. Kobeits, T. S. JDacre (Linwood), T. y. Carlisle, A. W. Cliarlson (Bjckenhum), Geo. Smith, H. Vt. Gourlay (Bryndwr), J. Brooko Taylor (Aranui), G. F. Allen (Sumner), J. Wardell and. G. Wear (Spreydon). The secretary was instructed to refer the City Council to its letter of December 20Ui regarding temporary jest rooms for women, the matter to be dealt 'with at the nextr meeting. Mr T. S. Dacre was appointed the Association's reDrcsontative on the "Safety First'' Campaign. Committee. At the invitation of. the' Council, Mr H. Mcintosh, city traffic© inspector, attended thd meeting and briefly outlined what was being done to contro 1 the traffic in tho city. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker. The follomng resolution was carried:— "That the Council of tha United Burgesses' Association considers the appointment of a. traffic officer at the corner of Hereford street a step in the right direction, and is of opinion that tho t&anagement of the trams at that epot alvculd be amenable to the official in charge. Mr Dncro gave a. resume of the business done at the initial meeting of the "Safety First" Compaign. Committee.
