ANNUAL MEETING. Tho fortieth annua! meeting of the Canterbury Calsdaman, Society wis held last night, Mr C. S. Thomas presiding. .Th* directors' report and bsjanca-aheet, which) were, adopted, shotted that there was a credit balwicd of £316 12a fid. The sum of £52 stood., to tier credit of tie Benevolent Fund, and tho eum of £7S 17s lid to ths Sinking Fund >-. ; This ww a*tja£a«tory, *• the Society had no ro:ma of its own and no income was derived from letting*. Mr Thomas reported that they had'been unable to get on. with tho Society's now building yet, but a plan had been agreed upon. The Scc«ety'e functions would, in the meantime, be held m the Art Gallery. Ths proposed new hall would eeat about (000 persons, and there, would bo a dining hall at: the rear. The ball would probably not be available ibie season, as the Soeiety was waiting until April, when the building price would meat likely fall.
