SUNDAY SOHOOI/ ANNIVERSARY. The Linwocd Presbyterian Church Hall ! was well filled on Monday evening, when tho anniversary social was held. Ac.va.nta.ge wau taken of tiio occasion to bid farewell to Mr T. Paterson, who has conducted the service* for the past 18 months, and who is now leaving to enter the Theological Hall, Dunedin. Tho Rev. John . Paterson presided. Messrs "W. Hannah and J. J. Flewellya spoke of the good work accomplished by Mr T. Patewi whilst in charge of the church, end Mr J. T. Cadlow on behalf of the Congregation presented him with a pocket wallet containing a substantial cum. aa a token of their esteem. Mr Paterson suitably responded. During tho evening musical items were given by Misses Simpson, A. Caithness, I>. Rutland, and Mr Olds, "Sirs Rutland! _ and Miss Caithness being the eccompanistes. Supper was served by the ladies, PIONEER LODGE. The Pioneer Lodge No. 1 U.A.0.D., held its quarterly meeting on Monday evening, A.D. Bro. B. Couch presiding. The Bards reported on Ihe sick- under their core, aiid the sum of £lO 18s 4d was passed for ei:k pay. An invitation from the Oak of Sydenham Lodge, to be present at the presentation to P.D.P. Bro. J. Beets, No. 2 District, w&s accepted.. The business paper for the Districts Grand Lodge meeting was discussed and the opinion of the members obtained for the guidance of the delegates. After the usual business was finished, Secretary R.G.P. Bro. W. J. W. Neate entertained tie members', the occasion being his silver wedding. Several brothers spoke in reference to tho long services Bro. Neate had' rendered to hia Lodge and the Order and) tho faitkhil manner he had carried out hia duties, and congratulated him on the occasion of his silver wedding and wished him, Mrs Neate, and their two sons long life and happiness.
