LABOUR CAUCUS DECISION.

A protracted meeting of the Labour Caucus resulted in the election of the Hon. James Dooley, Colonial Secretary, to succeed the late Hon. John Storey as Premier of New South Wales, Mr Dooley received 24 votes and the Hon. J. J- JClcGirr, Minister of Public Health and Motherhood, the only other candidate, 16 votes. After Mr Dooley had visited the Governor and beon commissioned, the Caucus commenced consideration of the question of whether the whole of Mr Dooley's Cabinet colleagues should be selected, or only an extra Minister elected. , , , Later.
Further protracted sittings of the Caucus decided to retain the present Ministers as Mr Dooley'a colleagues, and elect a ■ new Minister to fill the vacancy caused by Mr Storey's death. Exhaustive ballots resulted in the choice of Mr C. C. Lazzarini (Western Suburbs). Tho Hon. J. J. McGirr was selected as Deputy Premier and Mi; M. Burke was chosen Government Whip.
