PIONEER SPORTS CLUB.
BEACH RACES. ; ::
.' The Pioneer Sports Club; held the. first beach races of the season; on Saturday at North New Brighton. • The weather was dull aad threatening, but only an occasional light sliower. fell during the afternoon. During the morning the cominittee had some doubt as to whether the raoas coyld be held, on aocount of the rain, but it was decided to go on with the prograniine in fairness to those competitors who had ridden in from long distances in order to' take part. 'A'iie 'beach was fairly heavy, and prevented any' records being registered. The racing was interesting, and i?i the' first event a neck-an'i-neck finish was anticipated, but plug trouble in the second' man's machine allowed Nicholl to get home comfortably. Thomas won the other two events easily. The public djjl not' show the consideration for the riders that they' might have done, and owing,to the spectators crowding on to the beach some of the competitors had to almost to cut into the water to turn. E. F. C. Hinds, whose machine developed trouble in the second- nee, did not start ia the third event. Following iwere the results:— Four Mile Solo; private owners' class—A. J.
