TEACHERS' APPEAL BOARD.
tO THE IDITOB 0» ••THK'HMSS.",
Sir,—May I draw your attention to tCie tarce now being perioruifcd m Gnristchurch under the name of a Teachers' Appeal Board. There has recently been instituted a teachers .Dominion griKiing soiienie, which is- now by lav/ the basis for promotion throughout i\ f GW Zealand, let Wi.en canterbury teachers, in their appeals bet ore the Dominion Ai>oeal board,- refer to teachers in other districts, they are at cnca ruled out of order, and told that the Board is not competent to deal with any matter outside the teacher's oivn d.slrict. By such an admis.ion the Appeal Board ifl reaujed to a farce. It is touring New Zealand, and yet treats each district as a compartment. If the Board cannot adjvfit differences between teachers in different districts, what claim has the scheme to be> cal ed a Dominion one? The Eduqa tion i3epartment by thus limiting the Appea.l Board to aopeals within the education districts. lias openly and emphatically declared that its Dominion grading scheme is a failure.—Yours, etc., CANTERBURY TEACHER. Christchurch, August 15th.
