CANTERBURY RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The Committee of tne Canterbury Eugby Union met last night. Pre-sent—Mt-ssr-s S. F. Wilson (chairman), E. Beattie A. E. McPhail, E. W. Britton, H. Davis, C. W. Allard, R. H. Kofth,i C. Buchanan, W. il'a.xwell, C. S. McCully, F. D. Keeteven, and A. Ouggan. It was reported that the whole takings at Lancaster Park last Saturday, when representative hockey was played, amounted to £'23 96,1 the net receipts being £lB 14s 3d. It was decided to gi?e that amount to the Hockey Association. The Lt.dies' Hockey Association wrote asking for ,a ground on Lancaster Park on August 217 th, for the Canterbury-Wairarapa ladies' representative match, and the Association also asked for a granMor the purpose of antertaining the visitors. Various speakers commented on the fact {bat hockey at Lancaster Park woe not ruf>norted by its own adherents, it having been iioticeablo that a very few spectators patched last Saturday's hockey match, while the majority watched the football. It was pointed out that on August 27th the Eugby Union proposed to hold a benefit match for tho injured players' fund, and that all tho money taken should be devoted to that fund. Eventually it was agreed to grant su pound on tho date mentioned, on the same terms as those for the men's hockey matches (7J per cent, of the outside gate), with a minimum of £5, providing that the Men's Hockey Association was agreeable to tho arrangement. Mr E. E. Luttrell, referee in the Fourth Grade match between Christ's' College and Sydenham B, reported the Sydenham team for bad language, insulting remarks to the refereo, and general bad behaviour. It • was decided to send a copy of the letter to the Sydenham Club, with a request for an explanation. Jlr Luttrell also reported that the match referred to had been set down to take place on the College ground, but on arrival he lad found another game in progress on the ground, and had been informed ■ that his. match had been transferred to • another ground, on whose authority ho did not know. A member of the Competitions Committee said that the ground had been allotted to the Colloge-Sydenham match, and, as far a« lie knew, no authority had been given for any alteration. The matter was referred: to the Competitions Committee. Letters of congratulation on the success of the Canterbury team against the Springboks, .with wishes for the future success of the team were received from the Canterbury Football Association, the town clerk, on behalf of the City Council, the Canterbury Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's! Association, 'and the Hawke's Bay Eugby Union. • In regard to the protest lodged by the Union against the manner of appointing! selectors for the New Zealand teams, the New Zealand Eugby Union wrote that the protest had been noted, and would be "kept in view for nest season." •> The St. Bode's College Club wrote agreeing to regard its recent match against the Chris tchurch Boys' High • School as the Moascar Cup game between the two schools. It was decided that the charges for thel coming interprovincial matches, _ which will commence with the game against South Canterbury next Saturday, should be 2s to the enclosure, and Is to the bank. Messrs McCully, McPhail, and, Davis were, appointed an- entertainment committee for .. the Canterbury-South Canterbury fixture. Messrs Maxwell, A. Dey, and IS. Macintosh were appointed a committee to arrange for referees for all the interprovincial matches to be played locally this season. It was stated that as a curtain-raiser for next Saturday's match a primary school® representative game, South Canterbury, v. Canterbury, would be played. Permission was granted, for a primary. schools girls' basket ball match, South Canterbury v.
