BRYNDWR TRAMS.

TO THE EDITOR OS "THE PRESS." Sir,—The "proper study of mankind is, Man." bo i'ope said, or one of his contemporaries, and I want to call the attention of the discerning publio to a comparative study of the mentality of the five stalwarts on the Tram who, with eyes shut and blindfolded, and the "Urey matter" apparently away on furlough, wade steadily on in the congenial task of presenting the people chiefly concerned with '.something they don't 'want. The job in hand is to tap East Bryndwr with the trams, and the duty of the Board, one would think, would be to: take the most direct route, in this particular case at all events. If a man with knowledge of the city lay-out starts to walk from Cathedral square: to East Bryndwr, he strikes across the Park to Rcrssall street. Rnssall • street is the main road to Bryndwr without any doubt, but these five never seem to have heard of it. The trams cannot go across the Purls, but thfy can do the next best thing. ,viz., take the existing >Fendialton liner t-\ Holmwood corner, and then straight along this main road (Rossall street} to the terminal. This is the honourable course for the Board to follow. It is not honourable to tie a figure of eight knots in the tram route for tKe sake of extending the mileage. The difference in favour of the Rossall street route is ten chains; Ten trams a day each way over this superfluous mileage ia 21 miles useless wear and tear, to say nothing of the waste time. If the people of Wroxton and Bryndwr, east of Idris road, and along Strowan ,road, only realised that the Tramway Board are, by their action, making their territory a 3d car section, when it should be legitimately a 2d section, they would certainly ''kick," in unison with the dissatMed folk of Rugby street. If the Board does not think, the line to East Bryndwr along Rossall street will pay, it is it 3 duty to postpone the line, not put an unjust penny on the transit thereto.—Yours, etc., JUSTTTIA.

TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir,—The people who are opposed to the proposal that the tram-route to Bryndwr should be by way of Rugby street are not likely to accept yesterday's decision.of .the Tramway Board as final. The voting—five to four—wag so close as to that there is nothing ' approaching unanimity on the subject in the Board" itself. Fortunately nothing can be done in the matter or commencing to lay the line during the next two years, and residents of Rugby street and the Bryndwr people who object to being carried by a longer route than necessary, will no doubt keep together and see that this matter receives proper attention at the election of, the new Tramway Board nest November.—Yours, etc., • "W. J. HUOTm. 116 Rugby street.
