SPORTING.
S. Trilfofd has taken upp ■ Kilfane again, abo a gelding by Sunny Lake — Victoria. Both are from a great strain, and, with ordinary luck, shou'd pay their way. The Digger (T. Humphris) who joined Trilford's lot lately, was schooled over the pony hurdles yesterday,, and jumped well. Gamecock has been sent home for a spell. Thia brilliant jumper satisfied neither his owner nor trainer at the Grand National Meeting, so it was decided to give him a holiday. It is possible that the San Francisco gelding haa gone sour. Amythas was given his first solid sprint yesterday. He trotted on to the track slightly lame, and wearing heavy bandages. He went at an even "speed throughout,, and was no lamer when pulled up than when trotted out. Blush, who brought him home, had to do her best to keep the championbusy. Amythas will probably be nominated for the Marton an 4 Wangahui Meet; togs. Miss Mimic has not grown much, but the winner of the last Great Eketer is a golid sort of a mare, and promises well for next season. . Manawaponga, who got place money twice at the Grand National Meeting, has been turned out tor a spell. The badly gaited chestnut hurt himself severely at the Dunedin Winter Meeting, and it was sheer gameness that pullea him through the C.J.C. fixture. Sir Jas. Carroll was out at Ricoarr ■ton yesterday to see hia horses gallop. Tatau Tatau and Te Kuri were sprinted, and showed great promise, -while the colt by Kilbroney—Merry Roe, and Mint Queen did not disgrace themselves. ; : Nominations - for the New Zealand Cup close on Friday evening. L. H. Hewitt nnd G. Young have both been granted licenses by the Australian Jockey Club. ENGLISH RACING. (By . Cable—Press Association—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received August 16th, 8.10 p.m.) LONDON, August 15. Lemonor* will sot run in the St. Leger Stakes.
