It islearned that the United States Supreme Court will be asked to declare the; Japanese a white race, and thus entitled to American citizenship. The I request is to be made in the case of -Takao Oaawa versus the United States Government, in which petitioner is seeking to establish his right to become a naturalised American. A former Attorney-General, Mr G. W. Wickersham, who is appearing for Osawa, will claim that the Japanese are descended from the Ainus and Yamatos, both being Caucasian races, whioh were originally Mediterranean stock;
