BRISBANE, August 10.
The Governor's speech at the opening of Parliament, was largely colourlesa. The proposals include insurance against unemployment, widening the scope of the Workers' Compensation Act, the extension of railways to open up the western and north-western areas, and the abolition of capital punishment. An ear!? local loan of £3,000,000 is foreshadowed. In the Assembly, Mr W. J. Vowles gave notice of motion that the Government did not possess the confidence of the electors, because of ite incapacity to conduct. business. The House thereupon adjourned.
