Mr B. Herdman-Smitfi, A.R.W.A;, who during tiie past 18 months has been a member of the Newlyn Art Colony, Penzance, is at present holding an exhibition of water-colours at the Burlington Galleries, Leicester square (writes our London correspondent under date of June 16th). The pictures, which number over 60, include several fine examples of the Wert Coast of New Zealand. Some of the other canvases were painted in Venice, and the remainder chiefly in Cornwall. Mr Herdman-Smith, who is well-known thi the Dominion, but chiefly is Chnstchurch and Wellington, was recently ele ted an Associate of the Rcyal West of England Academy. Bristol. He was represented last year at the R.W.A. autumn exhibition by two # pictures. He also exhibited at the Livercol Walker Gallery, and at the Leeds It is his intention in future to hold a "one-man" exhibition in London every year. Several of his pictures have been reproduced in colour by Messrs Vivian i Manaell and Co., of London.
