In reply to a letter from tho Health Departmeafj'jt was unanimously decided to contribute towards the support 01 the proposed eanutorium in Central Utago, with a vWw to making arrangements for the sending of any patients from the Ashburton disttict for treatment in that institution. Correspondence was read with reference to the propueed cottage hospital and maternity home at Methven and Hakaia. After the matter had been duly considered tho Board unanimously decided to purchase from Mr Morgan an acre of land at. Methven for £2OO, and immediately proceed witn the erection in Jbrick of the cottage- hospital and maternity nome, plans for which, were submitted by the Health Department's technical inspector, and approved by the Board. Correspondence and other information was received to the, effect that the Rakaio, Contain Board would be willing to convey to the Hospital Board a roomy and suitable part of the Domain -on which, to erect a cottage hospital and maternity home. It was decided to apply to the Domain Board for a site, and to make arrangements for the necessary litigation to empower the Domain Board to transfer a part of the-Domain to the Hospital Board.
