CANTERBURY MOUNTED RIFLES.

REUNION DINNER. - The first annual reunion dinner of active service members of'the Canterbury. Mounted Rifles Was held hut evening, Colonel J. Findlay, 0.8., D.5.0., presiding over a large gathering representative of all ranks. ' Colonel Findlay expressed . pleasure at seeing present so man men he had met in various parts of the Empire. They, hoped to make the function an annual dinner, and next.year to increase the number from 100 to 600 members of the regiment. He noticed men who had fought with them through Gallipbli, Palestine, -and Sinai, and also in the final campaign, when they did so well under Major Horst^ Colonel Findlay's remarks were followed by the Binging of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow," and three rousing cheers.

Colonel C. T, Hand-Newton, D.5.0., N.Z.M.0., proposed the toast of ''The Regiment.'' Colonel Findlay, in responding, expressed thanks on behalf of the regiment.' He said that the regimen't had done well in the war, and he was exceedingly proud to have been in command. He reminded his hearers that there was many a trooper in the ranks who was.as good a man as any officer or n.c.o. in the regiment, who had gained honours. Responses were also made by Major P. M. Acton-Adami, D.5.0., Major H. C. Hnret D.5.0., and Major D. S. Murchison, D.S.O. Tlje toast of "Other Units" was prcr posed by Captain R. P. Harpeiv and responded to by Colonel C. T. HandNewton, Captain Tymons, and Captain R. M. Gunn. Mr A. J. Masson proposed the toast of "The Chairman.". He said that he was proud to have the honour to propose the health of one who had so ably proved himself a true sport and a gentleman. He referred : to several little incidents connected with the regiment's oampaign abroad, which appealed strongly to, those present, and the toast was received with special honours, Colonel Findlay briefly responding. Mr H. Ferguson proposed the toast of "The Officers." The achievements of the regiment, he said, showed the quality of the officers they had had. The men appreciated the \tonaideration the officers "had shown them in encouraging sport and amusements after the armistice.. ... , ' The toast was responded to by Major P. M. Acton-Adams and Lieutenant G. H. Reid. ' , Major J. R. Gorton proposed the toast to the "Aotea Home," which was responded to by Captain L. R. C. Macfarlane. The toasts of "The N.C.O.'s," "Other Ranks," "The Committee," and '"fte BresV' were also honoured. Those present unanimously decided to form an association of old members of the regiment, and hold an annual reunion dinner on "Grand National" evening. Items were given during the evening by Messrs D. McGill, E. Parlett, W. Jewell, H. Ferguson, W. Barwick, W. Owen, C. Brown, G. Johnston, W. j O'Loughlin. Excellent music was provided by Kirk's orchestra.
