An early Rembrandt, the authenticity of which is vouched for by several well-known experts, has been discovered in a little town in the Harz man v). The picture, which is said to have" been painted in the year 1630 or 1631, is executed upon an octagonal oak panel measuring 22in in height by 16in in width.. The subject is an old gentleman of distinguished appearance. The picture is still m its original pine* wood frame, overlaid with horn, which is declared by one expert to have been specially made according to Rembrandt's instructions.
