The fact that a motorist had smiled as lie saw a constable taking the number of his car with the view of prosecuting him, was mentioned during the hearing of the charge against the motorist at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, and brought forth from Mr V. G. Day, S.M., the question whether smiling was an offence under the Motor Regulation Act. The motorist, in crossexamination, when asked why he had smiled, smilingly replied: '-It is slightly humorous to look up and see a policeman taking your number l"
