The Weekly Press and Referee Closing May 31,1921 ' Fifty-three Prizes Open to Amateurs and Professionals -*- REFEREE," desiring to encourage its many contributors of photographs, has decided to renew its Photographic Competitions, and now offers FIFTY POUNDS in PRIZES for the most attractive PHOTOGRAPHS sent in by MAY 31st, under the following CONDITIONS. (1) The subject may be anything the competitor chooses: Man, woman, or child, Maori or European, still life or action, town' or country, interiors or exteriors, live stock or wild life, landscape or seascape, farm life, bush life, town life, ■ or sea life, work or play—whatever . interests the competitor enough to make him photograph it. The novelty, beauty and interest for the public of the photograph will be the qualities considered in awarding the prizes. ,(2) Every photograph sent in must have been taken in New Zealand or its dependencies. Photographs previously published are not eligible for this Competition. (3) Competitors may send as many photographs as - they like. The Competition will. CLOSE on MAY 31st NEXT, but competitors are advised to despatch their packets as soon as they are complete. (4) The Editor's- decision shall be final. (5) Prize-winning photographs Become the property of the Christchurch Press Company, with right to use in any of its publications, copyright remaining with the photographers. (6) The £SO will be 'divided into 53 prizes, as under:— First Second ... Third ... Fourth ... Twenty at £1 £5 0 0 £4 0 0 £3 10 0 £3 0 0 £2O 0 0 Twenty-nine at 10s £l4 10 0 Fjfty-three Prizes £SO 0 0 (7) Non-winning photographs, if accompanied by full address of sender, will be returned during tho first week' in July, unless selected for publication. For those thus selected five shillings each will be paid. (8) Photographs engrave best if made on glossy paper. However matt or glossy is optional, but it is imperative that all photographs be sent in flat packets: they need not be mounted. Each print must have the title and the name and address of the competitor, lightly written in pencil (not ink pencil) on the back of the photo near the bottom edge. (9) Packets should be plainly marked "Photographic Competition," and addressed "The Editor, Tho Weekly Press and Referee," Christchurch, N.Z." (10) "The Weekly Press and Referee," shall have the first right to reproduce any photograph submitted.
