ATHLETICS.
CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIPS. Writing to the secretary of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association (Mr Moss Ballin), in connexion with the forthcoming Canterbury championships meeting, the treasurer of the Wellington Centre, Mr A. C. Kitto, states that H. E. Wilson, the champion hurdler, and the 100 yds champion of Wellington, will almost certainly be a, competitor.. A. Wyeth, last year's New Zealand three miles champion, will compete, and G. Harvey (Masterton), Australasian . champion pole vaulter, will also male the trip. W. Candy (Wangamii) the Wellington 22!>ydg champion, will also compete, .as will"W. Snatchard, the Wellington' three mile. champion. * Speaking of the visit to Wellington to last Saturday's championship meeting of several Canterbury athletes, Mr Kitto states that all made a great impression on the Wellington publio, and all received general approbation for their sportsmanlike behaviour. In particular, Mr Kitto mentions C. H. Taylor, whom he describes as a "leal champion." Taylor, he Bays', very favourably impressed the spectators and no one grudged him. his successes. The Wellington committee owed Taylor and the other Canterbury athletes a debt of thanks for making the trip.
