THEATRE ROYAL. "IRENE." ' "Irene," the musical coir.e-iy with ». genuine plot, was repeated last niiht in tho Theatre Royal in the presence of a l«rg» audience. The pretty scenes, tuneful numbers, and tbo frodcing of' the pi.ee made u genuine appeal to patrons, who wore unstinted m their applause. As "Irene," Hies Dorothy South was appropriately cast, and quickly established herself on good term* with the audience, while the other members of the clever company shared in her success. "Irene'" will be repeated to-night. OPERA HOUSE. At the- Opera" House t.hia week a particularly meritorious entertainment is off-coed. In the first half vaudeville items are contributed by Alberto. Rix, De Wilfred, Hftli and Menzies, -and Vaude and Verne, who all present unusual and clever nets. Walter Johnsoii'3 Revue Company holds the boards in the second half, and stages "Egyptian Nights," a delightful revue of mirth and music. EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. A sporting drama- of the best kind, "The Gentleman Rider," is drawing cap-acity business to Liberty—Theatre this week. The last chapter of the "Smashing Barriers" serial and the first chapter of a new Vitagraph serial, stairing Antonio Moreno, are also being shown. Mr Richard Moloney sings a number of eon-gs at each evening l session./ CBYSTAL PALACE. Into "The Great. QUEEN'S THEATRE. "The Garter Girl" and "Upstairs," with, their excellent supports, were witnessed by delighted audiences at tho Queen's Theatre yesterday. GRAND THEATRE. The fascinating story of a man. who discovered his double is- told in "The Man Who Lost Himself," which is showing at the Grand Theatre to largo audience* this week. Wm. Favcrsham is the star in this picture, which is supported by a well-balanced programme of smaller films. "Surprise packet." ' Commencing at the Theatre Royal next Wednesday night, for a season of six nights only, Mr Linta will present the musical extravaganza- "Surprise Packet, which is now on a Dominion tour. This company has been specially selected by Mr Lints, tin producer, from the principal towns of tho Dominion, j and is financed by New Zealand money. Features of the production -are the Female Quartet a-nS a farce, introducing the waltz, clog, and ragtime with fast ball-bearing skates on an electric table, and «. distinctive ballet of eight headed by Mis* Daisy McLennani, the New Zealand champion Highland dancer. Tho management have been fortunate in securing the. services of Miss Winnie Fraser, the charming mezzo-soprano, and Nancie Gibls, a brilliant young violinist© who has just returned from England, whew she had several very successful appearances at Covent Garden. The supporting members include Agnes Richardson, contralto; Cecily Tabor, toe dancer; Dorothy Claridge, monolonuist; Sadie Browne, toe dancer;'. Dorothy White, tho fascinating dan-seuse; Itnel£u Rowe, classical dancer; Besban McDonald, comedienne; arid Jean Wagner, contralto. The orchestra ia under the direction of Mr Roibt.
