MEETINGS AND SOCIALS.
LTNWOOD LIBRARY. On Monday evening a special meeting of the Linwood Public Library Committee was held, as a farewell to Mr Alfred Marshall, the treasurer and book-buyer. During the evening a gold watch, suitably inscribed, was presented to Mr Marshall, as a token, of esteem, and in recognition of hia past valuable services. Mr Marshall was one of the founders of the Library in 1909, and haa watched its growth from a membership of about 40 to its present day number of over 150 ft subscribers. Much of the success of this Library, which boast the largest membership of any suburban library in New Zealand, is directly due to the untiring and whole-hearted efforts of Mr Marshall. Mr Marshall will still continue to take an active interest in the management of the Library affaire in his capacity of vice-president.
