(Received December 13th, 8.10 p.m.) LONDON. December 13. The Cadets were ambushed at evening, at a sharp corner where the lorry was obliged to go slowly, a"nd Sinn Feiners were able to throw bombs over n wall into the lorry. The first intimation of the attack was a series of explosions People nearby hurried to the spot, and found the Cadets writhing m agony. They were horribly injured, and operations were necessary in several cases. A number of arrests were made from neighbouring houses. Halt an hour later" parties of auxiliaries witti special constables began to clear the streets, which were crowded with shopners anxious to pet homo before the curfew at ten o'clock. The auxiliaries held up all males, lined them up against tho walls, and searched them, but allowed tho women and girls to go unchallenged. When the news of the ambush spread the neople of Cork were stricken with fear'. People in the district where tho outrage tjjok place fled from their homes and spent the night in tho fields, some in the scantiest of clothing. About this time lorries be-? gan to dash through the city. Explos:ons were hoard, and then fires commenced. The authors of the fires are still doubtful. The correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph," who was an eye-witness, says he saw fifty men in all.kinds of raiment armed with rifles burning buildings. They succeeded in evading the curfew troops. When these passed by tho men with rifles fired shots into the windows of houses, and continued the work of destruction. The "Daily Chronicle" and •"Morning Post" assert that there is no evidence that the fires were duo to soldiers or oolice. Two other ambushes of troops took plapo yesterday, including one at Garryspellan, County Limerick, where several Sinn Feiners aro reported to have been wounded.
