The Auckland Prices Investigation 'Tribunal has had its attention drawn to charges "being made for express delivery, nby several complaints mado against firms conducting that class of business. As a reaulfc of its investigations, the tribunal has come to teel strongly that the whblo question 6f express delivery should receive the earnest consideration of the Hoard of Trade. A report has been prepared •to be forwarded to tho Board, strongly urging it to make representations to the lJostmaster.General with a view to . the postel_aathorities increasing the 6copo of their parcel post system by tho addition of an express agency, • If toe Board thinks it proper to make tho representations outlined to tho Postmaster-General, the report proceeds, ..the tribunal urges that similar representations should be made to the General Manager of Railways, with a new to his Department issuing through bills of lading from the North Island to the South Island and vice versa, and lincreasing the radius of its deliveries in nli towns, thus making* it possible te consign heavy parcels from Auckland to lavercargill without the assistance of Ittirate carrying firms in ao far"ns consurnox and consignee- nre concerned. ty? these Departments increasing the scope of thoir resources aa indicated, great benefit would be- conferred on all classes of the community, for many of the charges made now by express derms can on 'y Do characterised as iniquitous. •
