SUMNER CLUB. A meeting of the Sumner Life-Saving and Surf-Bathing Club was hold in the pavilion last .night, 2£r -H. Buttle presiding.. The Surf Association wrote stating l that tho Benson Shield competition would take place on the ■ Sumner beach on January 22na. It was decided to make arrangements for the l holding of the eame at the next meeting. Donations of one gnfhea each were received from Messrs L. llataon, F. N. Adams, and N. It. Johansen. Fivo new members were elected. It was reported that the Boys' High School Cadets would hold their morning bathing parade on the beach during their camp ill Rcdcliffs. Tho meeting decided to place tbd pavilion at the disposal of the camp, and to give advice regarding the safe bathing area on tho seaward beach. On tho motion of tho oliairmen, it waa decided that the club* should he represented at the public meeting oallod to consider th® question of a gala for beach improvements.
