ROYAL LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY.
1 ■ The monthly mooting of the Royal Life Saving Society was 'held last ©renins, ilr S. K. Bi&sett ia the chair. A telegram was received from Messrs S. G. Smith and D. Sullivan, ALP.'e, advising that an annual graut of £230 had been made to the Society. It was decided to. write and thank these members for their assistance* A vote of thauke to Mr Henry Holland wa«, passed for & donation of one guinea. Tie report of the sub-committee dealing with the YVigrum Shield wae adopted. This provided for the Shield being controlled by ■the Dominion Council of the Society instead of the N.Z.A.S.A., and admitted teams of lady members to the competitions also. It was decided that all competitors must hold the bronse medallion. Arrangements were mad© for a eecondary schoolgirls' competition to be held annually for a. suitable trophy, eilver medals to be presented to the winning team and its instructress. This competition will be open lo any secondary girls' eohool in Canterbury, and thero will bo no age limit. •It wae decided to present a new "Award of Merit" eiik costume badge, just received from London, to the first member of the Society gaining this award this year.
