Captain Curtin, private secretary to the Governor-General, has advised the Town Clerk that his Excellency has approved of the time fixed for the civic: reception in Christchurcn, 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, at the C'itv Council Cham-; fcers. M.C., who was ! selected by ihe Uerence Department to ! write the "war history of the Otago Battalion, has now practically completed nis heavy task. The vqjume will comprise over .300 pages, and will include maps and photographs of well-known members of the battalion. Lieut. Byine was formerly a member of the reporting staff of the "Otago l)ahy Times,' , and returned from Australia to join up with the New Zealand Forces. He is at present completing a few minor enquiries.
