4 WOOLSTON HORTICULTURAL ' " SOCIETY. Under the auspice 3 of the Woolston ticultural Society a very interesting lecture was given by Mr R. Nairn in the Wcolfton Library on Thursday ovening on "Kcoata and Colours of Flowers anU Their Purpoeo in Nature." There wai a good attendance, Including a. number of children from the public school. The speaker was accorded a very ho.irty vote of thanks at tho conclusion of his address. EAST CTIRISTCIIURCH SCHOOL COMMITTEE. At a meeting of th? Tho teachers' reports stated that tho attendance was improving, tho average at t-'e Main School being (SCO out of a roll of 672, at -thi Main Infant School 324 out of a roll of 281, and at tho South belt 108 out of a roll of I'M. It was agreed to call a epccial meeting of tho committoo for Monday w:ek to arrange icr the unveiling of tho honouis board. At the conclusion of tho meeting Mr ilarvey presented a fountain pen to Mr A. Peverill, thn late chairman, who rceitcned on account of living outbid;- the school district.
