A concert will take place in the Crystal Palace Theatre to-morrow evening, at 8.15, items being given by Madame Gower-Burns and some of her students, assisted by the Christchurch Salon Orchestra, the T.yrio Four, and Mr H. probably the youngest vocal student in the Dominion, will also sing. Miss Aileen Warren will act as accompanist. The proceeds are towards the funds of St. Saviour's Orphanage.

WEDDINGS. SPARROW—FLAN AG AN. A prett-v wedding was solemnised at the Holy Trinity Church, Avonside, on Monday morning, November Ist, the contracting parties being the Rev. Charles Leslie Sparrow, vicar of Metnvon, and Alice Grace Flanagan. daughter of Mrs G. S. Flanagan, of this city. The bride, who was given away by her brother, was gowned in a frock of ivory satin charmense and georgette, trimmed with crvstal beads and tho court train, being lined with shell pink crepe-de-chine. She wore the orthodox veil draoed in mob can style with orange and carried a beautiful bovguot of lily of the valley and- maidenhair fern with shell t>ink streamers. The Rev. O. Fitzgerald, assisted by tho Rev. Alban Purchas. at tho wedding, which was choral. Baker, of St. Albans, and Mr Ralph Freeman Burnet, youngest son of Mr and Mrs S. J. Burnet, of Woodend, took place on October 27 th, at St. Paul's Church, Casliel street. The Rev. John Peterson officiated. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly attired in a frock of white fiilk taffetas, with <m overdress of o-eorgette, trimmed with pearls, and wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. She carricd a shower bouquet of marguerites, freesias, and roses, ana was attended by her sister. Miss Dons Baker, who wore a -white silk frock, and hat trimmed with lilac, with a bouquet to match. Mi' A. F. Baker was groomsman. Aft&r the ceremony the guests assembled at Freeman's cafe for the wedding breakfast. CREEI>—KNIGHT. A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Matthew's Church recently, the contracting parties being Mr Albert George Creed, of Waiau, and Miss ivy Beatrice Ivnight, only daughter of 'H. T. and E. F. Knight, of St. Albans. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E. C. W. Powell, vicar of Sumner. The bride looked charming in a simple frock of ivory crepe de chine, trimmed with mother-of-pearl bead trimming, with the usual veil and orange blossoms. She carricd a lovely shower bouquet of choice white flowers, and was attended by Miss' Aline Dunn as bridesmaid, who was attired in a dainty frock of white voile trimmed with touches of lilac, and a hat to match, and also carried a bouquet of white and lilac-coloured flowers. Mr Pefty Creed, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Mr TV. Lunn, of Riccarton, officiated as organist. After the cev§mony the guests were at Broadway's by the parents of the bride. Tho happy pair left for their honeymoon in" the evening, the bride's travelling costume being of soft grey material, with a lilac and blue hat. BEETHA3I—BmWILL. The marriage took place in London on Tuesday of Mr Orton H. Beetham, second son of Mr and Mrs H. H. Beetham. of "Brancepeth," Masterton, to Miss Jean Bidwill, only daughter of Mrs Bidwill and the late C. R. Bidwill, of "Tawaha,"' Martinborough. OBITUARY. REV. MOTHER MAMS STELLA. The death occurred in Christchurch on Thursday of the Rev. Mother Maris Stella, Superior of Nazareth House. The deceased lady was a member of one of the most illustrious families in Great Britain. She was born in Aberdeen, eventually adopting the Roman Catholic faith. Before coming to New Zealand some five years ago, tho late Rev. Mother had been Superior in

a convent in South Africa, in or near Cape Town. Sinco taking tip her duties at Nazareth House she made a wide circle of friends, being loved by all. She was a woman of very fine character, and her loss will be deeply felt by all sections of the Roman Catholic community. The late Rev. Mother enjoyed good health till some four months ago, when she contracted an illness from which she failed to recover. During her illness her duties have been attended to by Sister Menna, one of the pioneer Nazareth nuns in Christchurch, who -was called from Ballarat to act as acting-Superior. The funeral of the late Rev. Mother Maris Stella will take place tlv's morning at 8.30. l'eouiem Mass will bo celeVrnted by Bishop Brodif in the char-cI at Nazareth House, after which the rortego will proceed to the Linwood Cemetery.
