GOVERNOR-GENERAL'S VISIT.
The Mayor has received a letter from the Private Secretary to the GovernorGeneral stating that their Excellencies will arrive at Lyttelton on the morning of Thursday next and will attend the Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting at Addington on that day. At 10.30 a.m.- on Thursday his Ikcelleucy, in pursuance of a long standing engagement, will preside over a special general meeting of tho Boy Scouts' Council. Their Excellencies will leave bv the mid-day express on Monday, loth inst., for Dunedin and will not stop on their return, but go straight tlirough to Wellington. The Civic Reception will take place at the City Council Chambers at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday and the Investiture and Levee will be held at the Provin' cial Council Chamber at 9.30 and 10 a.m. respectively on Friday. Tho Mayor states that at tho leveo those holding invitations and possessing the right cf private entry will be admitted first, afterwards any citizen who carcs to attend.
