PRICE OF BUTTER
RAILWAYMEN'S EMPHATIC PROTEST. (PRESS association telegram.) "WELLINGTON, October 8.« The following resolution was carried •it a meeting of railwayman held at the Putone 'Workshops to-day : — "That this meeting vigorously protests against a further increase* in ihe price of butter and other staple foods, which only means that a corresponding increase in wages Is warranted to meet same. Wo ask the support of all raiiwsymen and the outside public throughout New Zealand to endorse a propositi declaring all butter consigned for export ■'black' until a corresponding increase in wages to all essential workers is granted from the date of the rise. Further, we seek the support of all transport workers to protect the general well-being of all innocent children and adults against the strong elements of profiteering; " WATERSIDEES' ATTITUDE. (special to "the peess.") TIMARU, October S. Tho waterside workers to-dav passed a resolution protesting against tne increase in the nrice of butter.
