Nominations for the North Canterbury and Oxford Jockey dub's Annual Meeting close on Monaay at 8 p.m. The programme is a very good one, with a total of 1050 sovs in stakes, and as «11 classes are well catered for, the Meeting Should appeal to owners.

The Canterbury Jockey Club has secured a very good list of nominations for the principal events at its Metropolitan Meeting, the total for the seven races being 315, as compared with. 308 last year. The numbers for each race are as follows, those for last year being -shown in parentheses:—Stewards' Handicap 53 foo), Juvenile Plate 49 (37), Metropolitan Handicap 37 (36), Canterbury "Cup 22 (24), Jockey Club Handicap 61 (59). Members' Handicap 60 (61). Stead Gold Cup 33 (36). Those engaged in tfce Stewards' Handicap, the most valuable short-distance race in the Dominion, include some very brilliant sprinters, and among those in the Stead Memorial Gold Cup are Amythas, Arrowsmith, Gloaming, Vespucci, Silver Link, K»ro, Humbug, Trespass, Winter "Wind, Miss Mimic, and Royal Stag.

The Australian Jockey Club's Spring Meeting will be concluded at Rand wick to-day. The principal attraction will be the Itandwick Plate, which will afford the opportunity for anotSier meeting between Kennaquhair and Poitrel.

The Victoria Amateur Turf Club's Spring Meeting opens to-day at Caulfield, but the clashing with the final day of the A.J.C. Meeting will reduce the strength of the fields. The Caulfield Guineas. Caulfield Stakes, Debutant Stakes, and Toorak Handicap are t&e principal events.

The North Otago Jockey Club will give SO2O sovs in stakes ai its nexij race' meeting, an increase of 585 sovs over the last Summer Meeting. The programme is to include two 400 sovs stakes, a Flying Handicap of 250 sovs, and two other events will carry stakes of 200 soya each.

Mr Robert Manson, father of four well-known North Island jockeys, died in Wellington a few days ago. The Manairatu Racing Club has made substantial auditions in $he stakes for tho Summer Meeting.
