DRAINAGE BOARD.
The Ckristchurch Drainage Board met last night. Present—ileetrs H. J. Utiey (in tho chair), Jb\ Burgoyne, !•'. Storey, C. Hill, S. A. btaples, W. J. Walter, J. VV. .beanland, and H. Holland. Tho Worka Committee reported that it had granted the application of Mr B. J. Pugh to divert Dudley creek on bis property, Church street, Papanui, on the usual conditions. The Canterbury Progress League applied for a renewal of their grant of £60. The Board agreed to grant tho £50. The Chiei Inspector reported that ho had visited tho various tannery works at Wool<Jton, and found everything fairly ■ good, with one exception, where tho catch-pit 3 were full to overflowing with solids. Tho catch-pits were inadequate, and not efficiently cleaned out. It waa resolved to refer tho complaint to the Board's solicitors. A deputation from the' Ricc&rton Borough Council asked tho Board to cover in tho drain at L-owo street, to enable the Council to straighten the street over an area of land granted by the Government. The chairman said tho Board had already j agreed to pay half the cost. The Board agreed to increase its contribution to two-thirds of tho cost. The tendjr of J. I{. Roots for cleaning out the septic tank at the farm was ' accented.
