An extraordinary general meeting of the Lyttelton Maj-ine Band was held on Monday evening to consider tho question of forming a jnvenil© band'. It vaa urged that 1 juvenile band would bo of advantage to the senior hand, as a meana of providing 1 • new players as -the old ones dropped omt. If. v. as decided that before proceeding further in itho matter an inventory of tlie band's equipment should bo taken. Tho treasurer reported that the assets stood at X',200, and that tho overdraft at the bank had been .0duoed during f.bo past fifteen months from £'230 to £GG. This was considered very satisfactory, as during the period mentioned tho band had amended the Duncdin contest at acost of £180. The secretary was instructed to write to Mesdarnes Waarne and T. Gorst thanking- _ thorn for t'leir assistance in connexion with the contest. It was decided to commence tho weekly practices on Monday next.
