CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE CONGRESS.
+ MEETING AT TORONTO. (By CaVs— Press Association—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association.) (Received September 22nd, 12.10 a.m.) OTTAWA, September 20. The King cabled to the Congress of Chambers of Commerce ab Toronto, emphasising the importance of the gathering as being not only conducive to commercial interests, but to the very unity of the Empire. Congress decided to-day to create a permanent bureau of standardised information regarding all colonial methods of valuing imports and exports. Mr Sheldon, Australian representative in America, expressed disapproval of the exclusion of the Dominions from membership in the Imperial Shipping Committee. Congress carried a resolution asking the British Government to afford the Dominions an opportunity to nominate their representatives of shipping and trading interests to serve on tho Imperial Committee.
